Completed work and work in progress

Drawing is the discipline by which I constantly rediscover the world. I have learned that what I have not drawn, I have never really seen, and that when I start drawing an ordinary thing, I realize how extraordinary it is, sheer miracle.
Frederick Frank (Artist and Buddhist) - 1909-2006
An artist and musician, I studied Expressive Arts at Brighton College of Art, 1980-83 and took a Post Graduate in Art Education, Middlesex University 1999.
I specialised in drawing, in particular the study of the human figure.
Drawing remained the cornerstone of my art practice in central London where I taught drawing and developed workshops for a wide range of students of all ages and abilities over a twenty year period.
As a cellist, I worked concurrently in collaborative arts projects, performing, devising and improvising with performance artists, storytellers and in fringe theatre and dance throughout the UK.
Returning to my roots in Ireland and now based in Belfast, I have recently resumed a fulltime art studio practice where the act of drawing is once again taking central stage. The words of Frederick Frank seem to gain more meaning with every passing day. Every drawn line is a celebration of life.
